The finishing touch

A sharper spine.
A stronger presentation.

Square-back finishing presses a folded, stapled booklet into a flatter, more defined spine. It keeps the familiar center-stapled construction with a more substantial presentation.

  • Classic saddle stitchFolded sheets secured at the center. Clean, economical and easy to browse.
  • Square-back saddle stitchA formed spine for suitable thicker booklets. Especially effective for catalogs and manuals.
  • Self-cover or separate coverUse one stock throughout, or pair lighter interior pages with a heavier printed cover.

Paper with purpose

Feel the difference.
Choose your stock.

A writable training guide and a photo-rich lookbook need different paper. We’ll match the feel, opacity and weight to your content and page count.

Uncoated & writable

Typical interior choices: 80–120 gsm
  • Natural, low-glare reading surface
  • Useful for workbooks, notes and manuals
  • Common 60, 70 and 80 lb text options
  • White, warm-white or approved recycled stocks

Silk, satin & gloss

Typical interior choices: 115–170 gsm
  • Silk/satin for a smooth, subdued sheen
  • Gloss for a brighter, reflective finish
  • Common 80, 100 and 115 lb text options
  • Ideal for catalogs, imagery and event programs

Premium covers

Typical cover choices: 200–300 gsm
  • Uncoated, silk/satin or glossy coated cover
  • Common 80 and 100 lb cover options
  • Heavier options up to 350 gsm: suitability check
  • Toner-compatible recycled or textured stock: by quote

Made in-house. Made for your deadline.

Precision print.
Thoughtful production.

Our production digital printing and 35-sheet Plockmatic square-back workflow bring color, folding and finishing together for a consistent result.

Up to 140 pages

35 folded sheets × 4 pages, including cover and blanks. Maximum reduces with heavier stock.

4-page increments

For stapled booklets, plan 8, 12, 16 pages and onward. One sheet makes four pages.

64–300 gsm finishing

Published finisher range; selected media up to 350 gsm requires approval.

Press ≠ finished book

The press supports media up to 400 gsm. That is not a 400 gsm booklet-finishing promise.

Maximum capacity is a production limit, not a recommended page count for every paper. We check thickness, fold quality, grain direction, trimming and the suitability of square-back forming for your actual job.

Answers before you print

Good questions.
Clear answers.

Is square-back the same as perfect binding?

No. Square-back is a formed spine on a folded, stapled booklet. Perfect binding glues loose pages into a cover and uses a different production process. Tell us if your project needs glue binding so we can quote it separately.

How do I count pages and covers?

Count every printed or blank side, including all four cover sides. A 28-page interior plus a four-page cover is 32 pages total. Stapled booklets use multiples of four. Our 35-sheet workflow can reach 140 total pages on suitable stock; heavier papers reduce that limit.

Can I print just a few booklets or rush an order?

Ask us for small quantities, larger runs or a rush schedule. Quantity, page count, stock availability, artwork readiness and finishing determine the timeline. We confirm the completion time before production.

How should I supply the artwork?

Send one PDF in reading order, as individual pages rather than printer spreads. Use your final trim size, add 0.125 inch bleed where artwork reaches the edge, and keep important text at least 0.25 inch inside the trim. Larger inside margins can help thick books. Embed fonts and use high-resolution images. We’ll review imposition, creep and any job-specific requirements.

Can I mix paper stocks or add a stronger cover?

Yes, a separate heavier cover can be paired with lighter interior pages when the combination folds and finishes well. We’ll review mixed-stock jobs, coated or uncoated surfaces, paper grain and total thickness. Specialty stocks need a compatibility check.

What about foil, spot UV, white ink or lamination?

Those are separate specialty processes, not standard output from our production digital press. Ask for a finishing quote and schedule. We’ll confirm whether the selected treatment works with your cover, fold and binding.

Can you deliver to my convention or hotel?

We offer Las Vegas pickup and delivery options. Provide your show, venue, booth or hotel contact and required arrival time. Delivery access rules, charges or free-delivery eligibility are confirmed with your quote.
